Firenze Marathon 2017: the official race jersey and medal presentation

#FirenzeMarathon presents the race jersey and medal for the 2017 event, and now, with just 80 days until the 34th edition of the Asics Firenze Marathon scheduled for November 26, 2017, the real countdown begins. The race will begin and end in Piazza Duomo as it did last year, with great success and appreciation. This year the race jersey and medal which – we remind you – will go to all of those who register for the race, were presented in an official ceremony at the European Institute for Design Firenze (IED), which has collaborated with Firenze Marathon and had the honor of designing the entire stylistic development of the event. IED hosted an internal contest and the Marathon’s Organizing Committee had the last say on the definitive decisions.

Among those at the presentation were Giovanni Bettarini, urban alderman for the Comune di Firenze; Giorgio Damilano, Italian champion race-walker representing Asics; Giancarlo Romiti, President of the Firenze Marathon Organizing Committee; and Alessandro Colombo, IED Director. There was also Giancarlo Gosti, Vice President of Coni Toscana and Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Regional Council, and Vezio Trifoni, the Fidal Tuscany street running Director.

This year the official Asics jersey returns with long sleeves and a neon yellow color (safety yellow, as designated by the company), for optimal use during the entire year. The design shows Florence’s skyline, with its most famous monuments delineated for recognition. The jersey is of the highest technical quality, with sweat absorbent material, perfect for runners during their training. Of course, the jersey may be worn the day of the race under your running club’s uniform, to give a super sporty look. To contrast the yellow, the all writing on the jersey is blue, which is also the color of the shirt that will be given to participants of the Ginky Family Run.
To accommodate all of the requests from previous years’ editions of the Firenze Asics Marathon, this year Asics has provided sizes and cuts specifically for female runners.

Regarding the finishers’ medal, which has been designed by a world renowned South African provider, we have also chosen Florence’s skyline so that all the race finishers can bring a special souvenir home with them. All race participants will have an extra reason to bring the Marathon home, and add their medal to their own collection, together with their jersey. It’s truly a beautiful reason for runners to push themselves to cross the finish line in Piazza Duomo in November.

There was also a presentation of the technical shirt that will be given out to those registered for the Ginky Family Run, the race that will take place through the streets of Florence dedicated to children, families, supporters of the race participants, and all those who choose to come enjoy the atmosphere of the Marathon on Sunday morning. Start and end will be in Piazza della Repubblica.

At the moment, the registration trend is positive, better compared to the same time last year, when in the end, we saw 8,670 racers start and 8,260 finish in the allotted 6 hours and 15 minutes. As noted, we are at less than three months to the race and one week from the change in registration fee scheduled for midnight on Friday, September 16, and we already have 6,000 runners registered for the Firenze Marathon 2017.

There will be no conflict between the Asics Firenze Marathon and the Fiorentina Serie A football club. Thanks to the algorithms that determine the team’s schedule, the Fiorentina, for their 11th away game, will play in Rome against Lazio on Sunday, November 26 with kickoff at 6:00 pm.

Before the Marathon, Firenze Marathon will work to organize the most important charity race in Italy, the Corri la Vita, which will take place on September 24 with over 35 thousand runners predicted.

The days leading up to the marathon, Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25, will be full of related events at the Marathon Expo, which will be held as usual in an indoor installation at the Asics Firenze Marathon Stadium, at Campo di Marte
