International sporting events in Florence

fmnovRugby test match, the women's World League waterpolo tournament, and the Firenze marathon: November will be a great month for international sporting events in Florence. Florence's Sport Councillor, Andrea Vannucci, presented the upcoming dates at Palazzo Vecchio recently: on November 19, Italy will play South Africa in Rugby at the Artemio Franchi Stadium; on November 22 Italy will play France in the women's water polo tournament at the Nannini di Bellariva pool, and on November 27 Florence hosts the Asics Firenze Marathon.

"There will be 10 days of relevant national and international sports competitions -- Vannucci said -- with two national teams coming together, and the Firenze Marathon which takes place annually on the last Sunday of November. Beginning with rugby on November 19, the Italian national team will be up against South Africa in a test match, a first for the city and the region. It will be a game -- Vannucci continued -- that will surely fire up the hearts of any rugby fans around. He then continued on to November 22, when the Italian female water polo team gets back in the pool after winning their silver medal in Rio, to go up against France in the Bellariva pool as a part of the World League tournament. Finally, on November 27, Florence hosts the unforgettable Firenze Marathon, this year with a new race course taking place throughout the historic city center to involve even more of the city in this much-loved annual event."
