FIRENZE MARATHON 2014: THE CLAP CONTEST

Clap ContestThe Firenze Marathon, boasting the second largest number of participants in Italy (over 11,300 participants in its last edition), is also one of the most exciting marathons in the world thanks to the warmth and energy emanating from the crowds watching on the sidelines. Firenze Marathon wants to amplify the public’s participation even more to show increasing support for the marathon runners throughout the duration of their performance. Firenze Marathon seeks to engage the public and get everyone in Florence excited on the big day, in the hopes that every single participant goes home feeling satisfied and excited for having been part of a massive event enjoyed by the entire city.

That is why the organizing Committee of the Florentine marathon is hosting the “Firenze Marathon Clap Contest,” a competition that will take place on November 30, during the 31st Firenze Marathon. The inaugural event last year was the “Firenze Marathon Music Contest,” which consisted of 30 musical acts chosen out of many to perform along the course of the race, and this year it will be even bigger and call for more public participation in the celebration.
The Firenze Marathon Clap Contest aims to create points of “energy diffusion” along the course of the race to help cheer the runners on. The contest is open to everyone: musical associations, theater groups, street performers, artists, actors, or really any kind of artistic display. The performances should be made of groups (made up of no more than 10 people) that want to contribute by supporting the marathoners with their amped up energy from the first to the last kilometer.
The contest’s partners include Lady Radio and Radio Rdf 102.7, Prinz beverage and food, Universo Sport athletic apparel, and Teatro Tenda Obihall.
